Dropped my car in for the CEL issue and picked it up the next day, noticed dealer put about 10 miles to my car within a day. Is that acceptable ? I don't want to be a "bitch", so would like to get some opinion before I mention that to the SA.
This caught my attention because my car was in there for less than 24hrs. Based on my calculation, if they have to bring my car around (for car wash or whatever reason) it would take 20 trips to add up to 10 miles. Does that mean technician took my car out for a quick lunch or something?? Did anyone notice additonal miles being added while car in dealer?

10 miles isnt that bad. I wouldnt bother with it. Especially since it was for a check engine light problem. I doubt the Technician would joy ride a 545... it can happen but less likely at this point. There are more "fun" BMWs out there to play with. M5, 550, 335, M6, 650, maybe even the 535... 545 is pretty low.

I agree 10 miles is ok. It's good practice to write down the mileage when you drop the car off.

Any update on this? Did you ever ask the dealer? Btw, which dealership was this, assuming it's in DFW, TX?

I did not question the dealer based on feedback that I received here in the forum. But for sure I'll make a note of the mileage next time I bring the car in. The dealer is BMW of Dallas and so far I am very happy with their service, plus they provide BMW loan car even though you did not by the car from them.

Let it go. If they drove 5 miles to warm up the car and test it the 5 miles back adds up to 10. That is not significant. You will jeopardize the service relationship and I am not sure what you would like in return.

They might have driven it a couple of times. First, to determine what the problem was and a second time to see if the problem was fixed. If they needed to get it up to highway speeds they would have had to driven it further. It wouldn't take much to put 10 miles on it.
