The loaner program is not an official BMW program so dealers (at least here in the states) use it as an incentive to buy from them. And with BMWUSA not enforcing one standard, you get a range of different outcomes. My dealer only provides loaners to folks who have bought from them. That seems to be the most common arrangement. It is one area where BMW does fall short in terms of customer service, particularly when compared to other makers such as Lexus...

Didnt buy either of my bmw's from my dealer and my sa always provides me with a brand new bmw. I asked for a 335 coupe last visit and one was provided. There are other choices and they know it.

Again, that varies by location. In large markets where there are multiple BMW dealers, this is more likely. In smaller markets where your choices are the one local dealer and another 90 miles away, not so much! :nono: But even then, each dealer chooses how to handle loaners...

Yes the loaner practice does indeed vary by dealer. I believe that Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley, NY, where member jeffnnj works as a Client Advisor, will give loaners to non-buyers.

I did not know that, I thought all BMW dealerships gave loaners such as Land Rover does

Especially for you, Scott. Anyway, I am surprised at BMW of Manhattan. They are a BMW company store and since BMW compensates dealers for loaner cars it makes absolutely no sense at all. It's also a great way to piss off a potential customer.

I'm slowly learning to lower my expectations https://5series.net/forums/public/st...lt/getlost.gif
