ron_cb550 03-08-2010 12:53 PM

don't worry, my dealer told me the same thing (and I bought my e60 from them) https://5series.net/forums/public/st...ault/wacko.gif

BLooD 03-08-2010 01:06 PM

that's awfulhttps://5series.net/forums/public/st...thumbsdown.gif, i have been to a different dealer and got a loaner.

The loaner program is not an official BMW program so dealers (at least here in the states) use it as an incentive to buy from them. And with BMWUSA not enforcing one standard, you get a range of different outcomes. My dealer only provides loaners to folks who have bought from them. That seems to be the most common arrangement. It is one area where BMW does fall short in terms of customer service, particularly when compared to other makers such as Lexus...

Didnt buy either of my bmw's from my dealer and my sa always provides me with a brand new bmw. I asked for a 335 coupe last visit and one was provided. There are other choices and they know it.

Again, that varies by location. In large markets where there are multiple BMW dealers, this is more likely. In smaller markets where your choices are the one local dealer and another 90 miles away, not so much! :nono: But even then, each dealer chooses how to handle loaners...

Yes the loaner practice does indeed vary by dealer. I believe that Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley, NY, where member jeffnnj works as a Client Advisor, will give loaners to non-buyers.

XtremeRovers 03-08-2010 03:13 PM

I did not know that, I thought all BMW dealerships gave loaners such as Land Rover does

Especially for you, Scott. Anyway, I am surprised at BMW of Manhattan. They are a BMW company store and since BMW compensates dealers for loaner cars it makes absolutely no sense at all. It's also a great way to piss off a potential customer.

I'm slowly learning to lower my expectations https://5series.net/forums/public/st...lt/getlost.gif

i just ask and usually get one if they have one. didnt buy mine from them, but i do go to them for service from time to time, so they kinda know me. The first time I did go to the dealership for service I didnt get one, gave me the i didnt buy from them line. After that I have gotten on almost every time, even a 2009 e60 once. Just assume you get one when you go in and you should be fine.

of course! don't let the service agents smell fear, or else be prepared for the bare minimum https://5series.net/forums/public/st...fault/wink.gif lol

in any case, it may have been an issue of not having any loaners available. i was faced with "leave the 550 with us for a few days w/o a loaner" or "we'll do it some other time"

it was a simple decision.. then again.. it may not be an optimal decision for everyone

go to hassel on long island

ivan545 03-11-2010 09:12 PM

My dealer always gave me a loaner, i think if you get to know the SA or the main manager then they will let you have a loaner.

IzzE60 03-12-2010 10:12 AM

No loaners at the dealership in El Paso unless you buy from them. Yet even if you do they give you a enterprise rental? This is where Mercedes and Lexus outshine BMW on their service!

ponnu 03-18-2010 07:37 PM

I am very happy with Rallye BMW as far as the loaner car goes..they have plenty of them, I just got a 335 with 30 miles on ODO decently loaded with NAV, etc

bmwgroup 03-29-2010 10:11 AM

Park Ave BMW of NJ offers all customers a loaner car, regardless if you purchased a car from them or not.

bigwill222 03-29-2010 02:37 PM

My SA in Detroit (Bloomfield) has given me his "vehicle" when no loaners were available. By his vehicle, I mean the company car he's driving not his personal.

dmahon 03-29-2010 03:53 PM

I just put my vehicle in at BMW of Arlington (Virginia) and got a rental...I was happy to get something more than just a ride to the nearest Metro station...

e60winbutton 05-05-2010 01:07 PM

Can anyone from NY advise if they give loaners at any of the NY dealers. I brought my car from New Jersey and would rather not travel that far for a loaner.

isulei 05-05-2010 06:02 PM

Wow! that sucks that you can't get a loaner! I bought my car in Nor Cal but live in Seattle now and have no problems getting a loaner at BMW Seattle. Last time I was there for T-stat change I got X5
