As a side note, I also tried putting Silverstars in the DRLs to get a whiter beam but it didn't work.? It seems that the DRL power output is lower than the other light sources so the Silverstars still burned yellow.

This is CRAZY! When I picked up my car I noticed the DRL's weren't set. I said to the salesman "I want DRL's. Do I set them myself?" He said no, drove back into the service area, and a couple of minutes later--voila. If you have to pay, be sure to mention that when you get the followup call from BMWNA. Someone is ripping you off.

I'll be sure to do that if they charge me. I don't know why the guy that sold me the car told me it wasn't available.

I have to agree with CTYankee, when I picked up my 05 5er at BMW of Oyster Bay, I also requested them to turn the DRL's on, the sales rep drove the car to the service area and within 5-10 minutes they were on and the best part there was no charge, nor was there ever any mention of a charge to turn them on. That should have been a courtesy to you as their customer.

These guys/dealers...................anything to make a buck at the customer's expense.

I'll give my salesguy a call. I'm sure he'll remember me. Maybe he said no on the DRL's because I took delivery on a Friday evening and all the service guys took off already. I notice you have privacy glass. What is that? Is that on the newer E60's?

I'm surprised to hear that. The reason we in the US (and Canada) can't turn the DRLs on and off in iDrive is that DRLs are mandatory in Canada, and BMW imports the same spec to both US and Canada.

Thanks, for the info. I might go back to where i bought the car and see if they can do it (BMW of SF). I noticed you put PIAA 4150K fogs. I'm sure they look better with the xenons. The stock foglight bulbs look kinda yellow. Are they difficult at all to change?

From discussions on another thread, it seems like the PIAA 4150K bulbs are the closest match to the stock xenon headlights which are 4200K. I was referred to a contact by Stream and I ordered the bulbs directly from Japan as they don't sell those ones here...it only took 3 days for delivery, about $55. I'll PM you with the info mikej.

I was given the option of DRL yes/no prior to delivery. Me thinks you are being fornicated.

On last service, I asked my dealer to set the DRL on after they have upgraded to software to 19. They said that they would charge me half hour work for setting the DRL on.

When I came to pickup the car, the rep said that in 19 software there is option for DRL's in the menu of iDrive, and since I can do it now by myself, they won't charge me at all.

That was nice news! BTW, the software upgrade from original version (car is made 9/2003) to 19.01 took 3,5 hours.
