How much would it cost for M5 in thailand? Thankx
With import tax and engine displacement tax, likely 220,000 - 250,000 USD

stormbird Where are you in Portugal? im from ilha da Madeira myself, i had no idea the tax is the much inflated, do you know if it applies to used autos ? my friend is thinking of shipping a MB E320 to the island this summer, he's probably in for a surprise.

Hi there euroman2004.
I'm near Oporto, on the mainland.
I don't know how the import taxes in Madeira (which is an autonmous province of Portugal) work but it's probably the same which means that the amount of tax to which the vehicle will be subjected depends on some of the following factors;
- Age of the vehicle - when first registered
- Cylinder capacity - engines over 3 litres are heavily taxed
- Number of passengers it can carry
- Where your friend is registered for tax purposes
- Where your friend's normal place of residence itself is
There are probably many other factors but your best bet is to contact an agency in Madeira that handles imports of vehicles to the island for ex-pats like yourselves.
Good luck !
