I am looking to upgrade my 545is to a 550i. The dealer low balled me on the trade-in. I am looking to sell the car on my own. I asked the sales guy if the CPO warrantee transferred to a new owner if I sold it?he quickly said NO. Has anyone done this?

First off he's the sales guy, not exactly an expert on the cars thhemselves, much less the CPO warranty. It should be transferable just as the original 4 yr/50k waranty is.

We just picked up my wife's new X5 and there was a small scratch on the hood and the sales guy stood there totally straight faced and explained that these cars are shipped from Germany and lots of things can happen on the ship... I cut him off to explain that the X5 is built in South Carolina and has never been on a ship. He shut up and made arrangements to fix the scratch.

BMWusa.com has a write up on the CPO warranty. Here is quote from their site. I believe there are no fees also, it just transfers with the vehicle.

Transfers
"The Certified Pre-Owned BMW Protection Plan is fully transferable from the original Certified Pre-Owned BMW purchaser or lessee to subsequent owner(s) or lessee(s)."

I called BMW NA early today. They confirm the warrantee stays with the car.
