Looking to buy a 545i, but CPO selection is so slim its unbelievable. I have found total of 11 cars on Autotrader, 3 more on Cars.com and 2 or 3 elsewhere. None of them appeal to me for various reason - color, miles, options. There are some non-CPO cars that I really like, but most of them are out of warranty or have very little warranty left. I don't want to own and E60 out-of-warranty. So, how does 3-rd party warranty compares to a CPO? I know most have deductibles, but is hte coverage comparable? What is the cost of an aftermarket warranty approximately for a 5er?

Have you looked on the BMW website? There are quite a few CPO 545i and 550i models listed there, depending how far you would go to buy one.

Someone posted this link in another thread about an extended warranty from BMW. Supposedly its honored by all BMW dealerships in the U.S.. I haven't found out the details yet, nor have I contacted Rodney, the finance manager of this warranty, to ask questions. It seems like a legit policy and others have used it before.

Look on the AAA website. Most extended warranty's are cheaper if you purchase it before the manufacturers warranty expires. The dealers work w/ these companies, but I hear that local shops love them because you have a little lattitude with "playing games"...from what I hear on the street of course...
