Does anybody have a sense of the true "cost" to dealer for them to CPO 2008 528x1 - sticker 51,125. Invoice 47,245? Am looking to purchase a 2008 loaner and am trying to get dealer to CPO it. Says they'll charge me only their "cost".

For a 2008 CPO that was part of their loaner fleet, the only additional "cost" incurred by the dealer is for the extended warranty, which I paid 2300 for on my 535I. Anything else they tell you is just stuff that they would normally do for any vehicle that comes through the shop, new or used. I will be interested to hear how much of a discount they offer below invoice for being a loaner car. Good luck.

When I recently bought my CPO '04 525i from the dealer, the salesman told me, "It costs us between $2-3k to certify a 3-year lease return," like mine. He mentioned new tires, brake work, etc. Not sure if I believed him, but I bought the car anyway because they took my offer of $1000 below the promo "special" price for the car.

I also took advantage of the current 1.9% for 3 years financing special that BMW is advertising for all '04 lease returns for a third of the purchase price [remainder was cash], because BMW makes the 1st two payments! That's pretty much free money. (And the cost of this financing program may be the true cost to BMW for all those CPOs they have in their lots.)
