Thumbs up

I dropped my car to Bay Diagnostic (Brooklyn) on Friday, they called me back just now telling me the clutch has to be replaced and that to fix it they would order the clutch assembly. They said parts/labor will be $1182.00 I just want you guys thoughts/opinions on if I'm being over charged or if the price is fair...whether the entire clutch assembly is necessart etc etc

P.S I had a post prior about driving the car and while downshifting the clutch staying on the floor... so this is the aftermath

I remember reading on this forum that the flywheel has to be replaced along with the clutch. If this is true, and BMW parts are being used, the quote might be accurate if you factor in labor.

Also try to find out exactly what parts are needed then contact Gary of Newport and see if you can get the parts at a discount (he offers 25% off to forum members). It's an idea because nearly $1200 to replace a clutch seems excessive to me. Good luck

For part price, try:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=21&fg=05

Main parts: clutch disc and clutch flywheel (does not included misc screws, bearings)

Labor: 5.6 hours for disc; if flywheel is also discovered to be bad, add 0.7 hour

My scenario:
Dealer ordered clutch disc assembly, but the flywheel was discovered bad too. Had to wait another day for flywheel to be delivered. Dealer offers BMW CCA member discount of 20% off parts and labors. I had a 2010 528i Sport service loaner from Mon - Fri.
