Does anybody know how the dealer allocation works?

I've ordered a 530i and they are starting production in about a week---it's in status 112.

Now I'm thinking I may just bite the bullet and get a 550i. Is that a different production slot or is it as easy to change as an option on the car?

Anyone have insight into how this process works?

I think status 112 means the car is scheduled for production and you can't make any changes. But if you want to get the 550i, you can't change engine, you will have to talk to your dealer and reorder entirely. Not a biggie, just let them know you changed your mind and want a 550i!

Yes, yes ... go for the 550 - you won't regret it.

Well good news and bad news.

The car was scheduled for a week 48 build (first week of Dec.) but went from Status 112 to Status 150 over the weekend....too late to change unless I cancel this order and start again, which I can do but I'm really happy with the 530---so I think I'll stick with what I have.

The good news----the car is in production now and should be finished production 11/29!!
