All I can say is thank goodness for the CPO. Been having "Dynamic Drive Malfunction" warning coming on about every other time I drive the car for the past month. This was my primary reason for going in. Also had them check the clutch as there was some slight chattering in 1st gear as the clutch would engage. Also the driver's door latch was very loud as the door would shut. Well, I left with a new Dynamic Drive Control unit, a new clutch and Pressure Plate, new door latch, new interior blower motor (it was making a whistling sound), and an oil change. Not bad for $50 deductible.

My warranty is up in April. No way can I see keeping this car much longer. Too many frequent problems and this would have probably cost me $3000 or more out of pocket if the warranty was expired.

But now that the cars all fixed it should run great for the next 5 years. Don't get rid of it in April. Hehehe.

It's always a great idea to wait to get minor things repaired all at once (like you did) instead of one at a time. This way you get away with only paying one deductible instead of many separate deductibles. Glad to hear that the dealer took care of things.

I hate to hijack the thread, but how does one buy a CPO warranty? How much is the average cost? I have 66k miles on my 545i. Thanks!

You would have to sell the car to a BMW dealership. They would certify the car, and then you would have to buy it back, and as far as I know you would count as a new owner.

Wouldnt it be easier to just buy the extended warranty? is the coverage the same?

I am not sure you can buy the extended warranty AFTER you pass the factory warranty...but yes the extended warranty covers everything EXACTLY like the factory one.

Actually yes you can. I keep getting letters from a local BMW dealership to buy an extended warranty for a my 2004 545i that I bought from an independent dealer. I bought the car almost a year ago. I would suppose there is a time limit and the car has to meet certain requirements though.
