After subtracting the MSRP and Confidential wholesale price, can it really be true that the mark up on these cars is so little? How does the dealer make money? Especialy after we go in and get close to wholesale.
There is money buried in there - I just don't know how much. The show rooms are way too nice and I don't see a whole lot of dealerships going under.

The American car companies have MSRP/Invoice/Dealer Cost. As a previous employee, you could get dealer cost and, the dealer was still making money.

There is No 14% confidential markup... 7% is all there is. On the other hand buy a lexus and work the dealer there, because they got 13% markup. BMW's were never about price, but reather about the drivers car. Sure, you want to get the best deal, but if you are buying a PRICE instead of a car, BMW is NOT for You!

You're off topic blackbird6SPD. The subject here is some kind of sympathy for dealer who does not make much profit.

I have no sympathy for the dealer. I just want to know if there is a mark up already built in to the confidential wholesale price, so that I know how to negotiate the best possible price. I only sympathize my pocket!!! So if I understand correctly, on a $50,000.00 Confidential Wholesale Priced car, there is $3500.00 (7%) already built in to it?

Through the military sales program in Germany, an 07 530i base price is 41k. They are offering 2500 in single options. It cost 750 to ship it back through BMW. These dealers here are making money, so I would say that dealers in the States aren't starving.

i am a witness and attest to katheikia's hard ball negotiations at the dealer. when they see his car drive up, they literally cringe. god knows what they are saying under their breath. but they respect him. good job dude!
