After subtracting the MSRP and Confidential wholesale price, can it really be true that the mark up on these cars is so little? How does the dealer make money? Especialy after we go in and get close to wholesale.

Actually I heard from a insider that there is 14% markup but only 7% is shown "upfront" and the other 7% is paid in a different form quaterly.

So does that mean the Confidential Wholesale Price list is wrong?

Dealers do not make money on selling cars. They make most money on warranty works, service and repair works, and selling parts. Those are their main incomes.

There is annual based commision structure from the manufacture that only the dealer principles see and retain, trust me I did it for 5 years in the U.S.

So even if we get the car at the Confidential Wholesale Price, the dealer is still making money? How about the salesperson? Reason im asking is because I have always paid 1000-2000 above the confidential wholesale price and I was wondering, if next time, to push them even harder.

"Confidential Wholesale Price" --- is that different from the widely available dealer invoice pricing?

there are factory incentives for the movement of vehicles...dealer add ons are a great place for mark up too. Leasing kick backs...all sorts of creative ways for making money you dont see up front. Then, when that fails they charge you $150.00/hour for labor!! <_<

its not all that confidential if one can search it out through their 'friends' at the dealer...think of the overhead on the lot - 3 levels of sales; managers; buildings; hard costs; inventory costs to keep on the lot; computers; swag; customer perks (coffee; snacks etc)...these cars arent selling without margin. S

ure, they might be sharing a loaded cost and marking up from there....short of this, they would be out of business~~
