Now that both currencies are at par the pricing for BMWs in Canada is really out of wack !! For instance, using the BMW calculator a 550Msport in the US is $65,000 and the same car in Canada is $83,000 . A difference of $25,000 !!!! I seriously will consider buying in the US ......

I was looking at this option prior to ordering mine. I am still waiting for delivery and the US purchase is just looking better and better. There are slight differences in included items versus option items. Generally Canadian models have more stock items, but the savings are dramatic.

I am sure that the CDN dealers are going to put big pressure on BMW to lower the CDN prices. The current pricing is more about demand and what they can get. Consumers who have the means to purchase this type of vehicle are usually sophistaced enough to go through the paperwork of a US purchase. Unless prices lower, CDN dealers will be the real losers. I understand that the warranty is valid on US cars in Canada but the service agreement is not.

 

With the weakening US $ my sense would be that the US prices may be increasing. I agree about the Canadian dealers asking for reduced selling prices.I'm looking for a new car for my wife right now .She loves the new 335 Coupe but a 535xi would be more appropriate . I have just been reviewing both vehicles on the Seattle dealerships sites,,,, Big savings. HMMMM !

 

One Euro € would now buy about US$1,41.

(I know the Canadian dollar is good now also.)

$80,000 E60/E63 would only cost 57 k€.

Yeah, the US dollar is sucking wind and that is going to make my November trip to London VERY expensive!!

 

You hit it right on the head. The Euro over 1.40 will force the European car manufacturers to raise prices. Expect the inflation numbers in this country to accelerate very soon.

Yes, I really don't get the huge variance. Does the UK attach things like a gas guzzler tax? I know the VAT is 17% (right?) but are there other taxes that push the price up? Taxes on a cor purchase here in the states are set by each state but are more in 6-8% range...
