Just be wary on a first production on a new platform car.
Personally, I would just lease another E60 for 2 years and get the F10 after the first year bugs have all been squashed.

Just ordered a new 2010 for a 3 year lease.
I am getting a loaded 2010 550i.
I think that the inside of the vehicle was the most important thing for me.
No one notices the first year when the new F10 will be out. It is mostly a novelty.
By the end of the second year, I will be primed to get the new model.
I also won't be teased if they delay the debut until October 2010.
I too struggled with the decision, but at the end, there is nothing you can do.

I am in the same situation as my 08 550i lease ends in a couple of months. If I get a production # and extend my lease for six months am I obligated to take delivery of the new car?
There is no guaranty that the F10 will be out in March. In addition, in the first year of the release, you should expect to pay a premium money factor and residual on a lease. When the 7-series came out, people thought that BMW had lost its mind with the high money factor and bad residual.
I ended up doing another 3 year lease. If you do the math, the 550i has a great residual and money factor.
Plus, the 2010 has new software. If they delay the F10 until the end of 2010, you will not regret anything. You will be perfectly situated to enter into a new lease once the first year kinks are removed from the F10.

id be weary of getting a first (or even 2nd) year of a new BMW model...they have a history of lots of problems (ala 7 series, and i think the e60 has some problems as well). better to just wait till they work them all out.
i ended up buying my car outright after my lease was up since the terms of a re-lease (like jeffnnj said) were outrageous. at the time BMWFS told me you can extend your lease (with the same monthly payment) for up to one year if youre waiting for a new model.
