Excuse my ignorance but what exactly is DMS?

Can I have this done to my 2006 525i

Thanks
Have a look here: DMS

The 525i can be chipped but turbo-charged engines get the best gains...

A well respected UK tuning house who specialise in BMW & Porsche tuning.

I believe they also operate in the US & often have their technicians fly over to carry out work. Their are other options, but the UK press & DMS customers rave about their work & Customer Service (myself included).

A DMS re-map on a 535D adds about 60BHP & 100nm & transforms the cars performance. Not such great gains on normally aspirate petrol engines, but perhaps worth you investigating.

If you have to think about it, its not for you.

I've long come to the conclusion that there is no perfect car for all situations, but what stops you having more than one car.

Keep the 535d for day to day and business, and supplement it with a toy, a used 911 and restricted mileage insurance is relatively cheap to run with minimal depreciation and running costs.

I also keep an old lightweight Landrover with soft cab for the occaisonal off road use. Poor dynamics, but great fun.

Thanks guys I think you're all spot on just needed a few second opinions

I'm going to keep the 535 and DMS it.

I think I'll take a look at the M5 in a few years when they're nearer 40k maybe.

I agree, I have been toying with the idea myself, but I sat down with some figures on an M6 and they are silly high, to the point where I think I would start to hate the car.

With fuel, insurance and depreciation an M6 would be costing me around ?2200 a month, compared with around ?1200 for the 535d.

Now for ?12,000 a year I can get a tasty 911 as a second car or a CSL even, now that is far more sensible!

Some of the guys are getting mpg figures of 6 (UK) which quite frankly is scary, and those that are taking it easy are getting around 16mpg, but what is the point of buying a car like that and taking it easy??
535dms and a 911/CSL makes far more sense to me.

Keep the 535d here too.
In terms of real-life benefits and costs potential.

Say if you got the M5, you will actually get to drive the wife's honda more while the M5 sits inside your garage. This same thing happened to my buddy, kept telling everyone his M5 is @home (its raining, its too cold, its too dark, too many birds there, its just round the corner...etc), this is only the 'grocery getter'. Really which one is the GG? hahaha!

For me the thing I hate is filling up, no matter what the cost of gas. I don't like to visit gas stations. With an M5, I'll need to drop by twice more frequently. Its not about fuel consumption but the range a full tank in an M5 will carry you.
me no like this.
