What is the deal with "BMW Individual?" I understand the concept ie: Exclusive colors, fabrics, etc. Why isn't this available to us (USA)?

I was told it is for the reason that our laws allow a customer to back out on a purchase within some time after purchasing the item. This approach makes it difficult to lock in a purchase on something non-stock that others might not want, when the purchaser can decide not to buy after they build the car and deliver it.

It's a shame though, 'cause lots of us would want one if it could be ordered, even if we paid for it in full up front and signed a form.
