Sorry to double post but probably more views here I really want to get this installed but do not appreciate getting fleeced.
So I have the most up to date software on my car and wanted to install the Aux kit. I was quoted $800 for the part and install, I thought this was really high. I asked for a breakdown of the costs and was givin the following information. Are they trying to rip me off, $150 for an install kit, wtf is that?
$200.00-programing, $136.00-part, $150.00-install kit, $330.00-removal of components to gain access to install part,

Uhh, yer getting HOSED!
If, indeed, you are referring strictly to the Aux input (and not the iPod kit), then yeah...... The part was $62 USD and the dealer charged $130 USD for labor. There was no programming necessary.
But, I suppose this COULD vary a little.. I have NAV and L7. If you have both of those things, then yeah, I'd tell the dealer to pound salt. Book time for the install was only 1 hour.

I wonder if it is worth me escalalting to BMW Canada over their ludicrous rates to see if they can talk to the dealer on my behalf.

I emailed BMW Canada with the cost my dealer wants to find out if it is inline with what I should be charged. I have a satisfaction survey to complete for a recent repair ... im leaning towards giving bad feedback.

You still need to get re-programming to get the "AUX" menu to appear on the iDrive, right?
If the AUX retrofit done where the select it? Or if the AUX already appear where to plug the input w/o the retrofit?

They say it labor intensive to remove the trim and glovebox to get access to the spot you plug it in. man my dealer sucks and it is the only one in the province.

I went to the the BMW.CA site and clicked on the contact us link. I had to setup a profile and then emailed my question.
