Anyone received a 545 built after ECU/DME issue?

I should move to Boston.
I ordered mine April 15, and was told June build, July delivery. Then the dealer claimed they got no 545 June builds, for which I have been somewhat suspicious. Then I was told early July build, early August delivery. It finally got built around July 1, and arrived at the VPC July 21. And now the recall fiasco.

Wonder if that employee could mail me a DME unit for my car.
Are you out there mystery employee?

I thought that production of the 2004 MY ceased in early August to allow for changes/retooling for MY 2005. If jzerden receives his car today that means that cars produced after Jul6 are proceeding through the VPC as scheduled. I suspect that Bosch can only make the DMEs at a certain pace so that cars in production as well as delivered cars are getting the DMEs first. I have opted for a MY2005 and will leave my recalled 545 for the dealer to sell whenever it arrives.

Tim C, I talked to a number of dealers prior to ordering my 545. Part of my negotiations were the first available build date. If it was to late I walked away
If you are considering walking awzy from your 2004 VPC and into a 2005 then the build date would be very important as well

The more people walk away from their VPC cars the louder BMWAG hears are our complaints. They may be left with a large amount of expensive 2004 cars on their lots when the 2005's arrive.
We are definitely at the low end of the totem pole in their eyes.
