So after all the positive input I've had my arm's been twisted (It didn't take too much persuassion) and added Advanced Air Con, HUD and Automatic Tailgate lift to my order.

The ride I've ordered for late May / early June delivery is now: 523i Touring with M Sport package, Petrol engine, manual gear box (I want to drive it!!). Colour Mystic Blue with Biege Dakota Leather and Light Poplar Wood trim.
Options to also include Media Package (Pro Sat Nav, Bluetooth prep 6 CD-changer ect.) Visibilty Package (Xenon with Adaptive Headlights and headlight washers) Heated Front Seats, Sun Protection Glass (tinted windows). Advanced Air Con; HUD, and Automatic Tailgate Lift.

WOW! I'm goin' to have fun!!

just curious, would not it be better to drop stuff like HUD and get a bigger (powerful) engine?

My thoughts as well...Advanced A/C, HUD and Auto tailgate must be round ?2K; a 525i is only ?1,600 more than a 523...

also this might be a hard car to sell later.....
high price due to the electronic gadgets, but yet, with no offence "the small engine for such class".... just MHO
not to say that the 523 would not drive good but within this price range people prefer like 525d or 530i/d ???

I think with the price of fuel (not going to go down!) this is a great engine choice...

Had the same questions when I purchased my 530i.Why don't you drop some of the options and get a 545? I enjoy ALL the options I got to the fullest and I'm sure he will too.The only mistake I made was not getting the Confort Seats..Good luck, enjoy. You only live once.
cheers

Editied: Removed as it sounded a bit rude about your choice of engine compared with spec. and I really didn't mean it to be.

Well, 523i is still a L6, right? Not much difference compared with 525i, right? So... Let the man, enjoy his BMW, don't ruin his day. 523i is still an E60, regardless of what others may think.
