get the 535i, best of both worlds...

it's worth the extra money (which isn't that much if you break it down monthly, even daily)
You know what i like most about Gene everyone? he is largely considered the "voice of reason" on the boards. when all hell breaks loose in a thread, he comes on in and kind of just says something that makes sense and everyone is all like "ooh gene for mod" and "the voice of reason has spoken" but most of all, he is an advocate for the 535. Gene being an advocate for the 535 almost confirms its position as being the best reasonable 5 series to buy. think about it, the most reasonable guy obviously would have the most reasonable 5 series. great gas milage, great power, cheapest to mod (JB3) and how could you not love the sound of two turbos spooling?

to the op: i would look at the 535. find a demo if you can. i leased mine, but sticker came from $59,900 to $46,000

No you are not a poser for ordering a 2010 528 M-Sport. You'd be a poser if you rebadged it as a 550. You might think about trying to get a 2009 535 in dealer stock as the deal will be a lot better than a 2010.

Have you considered buying a used(from lease return) 550i?
+1 I purchased through the BMW Certified Pre Owned (CPO) program. My car is a 550 with very low miles and the extended CPO warrantee coverage. This is the second BMW I have purchased this way.

i think you should go for the 5 series.. you have to small children and there is no way they will fit in that back seat.. i looked at that in the stealership and said no way...your a big man too, why not just go for the 5 series and tune it a tiny bit.. it doesnt make you a poser unless your re-badging it into something its not.. like an M. i know your losing that pep, but it seems to me as a dad (which comes first) you h ave no choice but to go with a 5 series.. now which 5 series can turn into a big debate on this forum. have you thought about getting a used 535? then you have the best of both worlds should be a no brainer to me once you mentioned the kids and all, plus you dont wanna look like your hunched over int he drivers seat with 2 kids miserable in the back.. just my 5 cents. hope i didnt make it worse for you..

I have considered CPO..I test drove a 535. CPO's are in my price range but most around my area (CT) are without sport and are pretty bare bones option-wise.

are you looking at being able to mod the car. the 535 (or 335) can easily make about 380-400 HP for about 600-700 bucks. I think you should go with the bigger car (but my inner child is telling me to tell you 335)
Not looking to mod. Down the road when the wallet allows I'll get something fun with all the ponies...M3 vert?

I like your thoughts.
You like the look, but don't need the power.
Don't hestitate with your choice.
I am getting a new 550i, and I am mixed about getting all of the extra power that I don't need with only 15 mpg.
That is a lot of fuel to waste in this type of world.
It will look really nice, and if you don't care about power, you are making a great choice and saving some money.
