Hi Tex735.. I decided to buy an OBD-II code scanner from Sears today.. it was the Equus Innova brand and the cheapest at $69.99... it worked like a charm clearing the Service Engine Soon light on the dash and the Increased Emission warning in the iDrive.. I'm going to see if I get the same warnings again before taking it in to BMW.. good luck!

Thanks, BMWRINO. So I guess pretty much any OBD-II code scanner will work then. That is good to know. I thought there was something to do with the plug on BMW's that would require a special code reader. I guess that once you clear the code, if there really is a problem, the light will come back on and you will have to hit up the SA for service. Mine is just the stupid micro filters and the 60K mile vehicle check. Regular maintenance stuff. If it is nothing more than someone looking at the car and saying, "yep, looks good to me" then I can do that in my driveway...

Thanks for the replies and good luck with that reader. If everything holds up for you, I will be heading to Sears very soon.

BMWRINO, how has that code reader been working out for you? Did clearing all the codes in iDrive work? I just ordered that Peake BMW code reader. I am a little nervous though due to the fact that no site will refund you if you return the product. If I find out that it won't do what they say it will, then I'm screwed and have a $130 device that doesn't do anything but collect dust.

If your OBD-II from Sears is able to clear the service timers in iDrive, the this one should be able as well and I will be happy. I'm crossing my fingers...

I am interested in your results, though. Have you had an opportunity to try clearing anything else like oil change or micro filters? If so, please post and let me know.

Thanks!
