I always like to feel that my car is new ...
the 4.4 engine used in
5series
6series
7series ..
motivated me buying 545i.. but now I am almost dead ?? to hear that after just 7 month of buying my 545i this name is going to disapear for ever ?? as 540 gone .... hope BMW keep the production of 545 and make 550 as option at least for another 2 years ?? I want to enjoy my NEW car ....

The E60 will have been in production for 2 years by the time the 550 is launched in the autumn. It's not unusual for BMW to upgrade engines that soon in the model cycle.? The E46 coupe is a good example. Launched as the 323Ci and 328 Ci, these models were replaced in a little over a year from memory by the 325Ci and 330Ci.
The 6 cylinder cars are all uprgraded in March with the new R6 engine so they have been superceded even quicker than the 545i.

Depreciation? Nice of BMWFS to actually raise the residual on their 545i leases last month.

While it may now be "normal" for BMW to change engines so soon (I had a '00 328ci which only existed 1 year B4 the 330ci can out)...changing from a 545 to a 550 after 1.5 years of production should really piss off every 545 owner.? The depreciation is huge b/c of the change.

thanks all for yr opinions on color...it looks like its an unanimous decision...silver grey with auburn will be ordered this week!!!
I've always been a black on black type of guy...so am a bit nervous going with this silver and auburn but i guess its time to be a little different!! The black interior reminds me too much of my existing 330xi and 328i which i've owned over the past 6 years so I needed a change!
Any opinions on the 545 during the winter months?? Living in montreal with the rough winters can be tough on any car!!
