My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.

1) Pricing will be available sometimes in September

2) The earliest ED pick-up date will be 3rd week of Oktober to early November.

3) I can't speculate the money factor, but it will be safe to assume it will be a market rate (instead of the current "subsidized rate"). So it will probably by .0025 (+.0003 for ED)or more.

You will NOT be able to touch the current rate.

Its your call chief! Good luck w/ whatever you choose to do.

So, is the 550 replacement of the 545 a sure thing for 2006? I have not seen anything released on it. Your dates indicate a 2006 SOP release.

Yeah, I mentioned it to my salesman last week when I dropped mine off and he said WHAT???? Had no clue.

I would assume BMW would not announce it until they are ready to take orders. Anybody considering a 545i would hold off - I would at least.

Also, not sure if they will delay as the 7 series is just getting the engine this spring.

It was not a big deal to me as it does not make sense to turn my car, BUT, I am having an engine vibration problem and if this next attempt does not work (find out tomorrow), I am guessing I would get a new engine. So, the big question is, do I fight for a buy back, then order a 06? Maybe it is wishful thinking.

- When pricing will be available for the 550.
- When we will be able to order for ED, and what the earliest possible pickup might be (early September?).
- I assume the money factors will be much higher than the current great deals. Any thoughts on what is a reasonable expectation of money factor for the 550 when it first comes out? I generally lease my cars, so this will have a significant impact on my decision............

How can pricing not be available until September? This makes no sense. Pricing must be available to order the car. If the 2006 550 will be available for delivery in the fall, then pricing must be available much sooner, sometime in the next month or 2. Can someone please explain/elaborate on this for me? Thanks.

550 pricing will be available in August -- it's still a long way off. You could however guestimate by checking the the new 750 pricing compared to the prior 745 pricing and figure out how much % it might rise -- i'm guessing not a lot.

Well there seems to be a great deal of confusion here. So I thought I would add what I know. 2 weeks ago my dealer offered to change options on a car that was already scheduled to be built-a 2005 545-and would have it here for me by the end of May. I declined. Instead I placed my deposit on a SOP 2006 550. He will call me in a few weeks with all the details regarding colors and options. At that time I can spec the car the way I want it. They have 3-4 cars allocated for the start of production in September-mine will be one of those, and according to what week it will be built, I should have the car in early to mid-November. It will be a 2006 550i. SOP will be in Sept. I was told I could select all my options as soon as the dealer gets this info-most likely some time in late April. Hope that helps answer some questions.

BMW is claiming only a 1/10 second improvement in 0-60 times for the 750i. What has anyone heard about performance improvements for the 550i? If it similarly is only 1/10 second faster 0-60, why not just swing a better deal on the 545i in the Fall?

I read on the car and driver web site about the new pricing for the refreshed 7-series. The difference between the old 745 and the new 750 is only $600. BMW just releashed this info at the New York car show. I can't express the joy I felt learning this news. Especially since I plan on ordering a 550 in late September for January 2006 ED.

Yeah what about 0 to 100mph and 1/4 mile times?
