No SMG on the new 3?? Hmmm, the latest Autoweek still says it's available.? Not that they are always 100% accurate either.
Oh, and one more thing, some of you might find Autoweek's comments regarding Active Steering a little bit interesting...?

AutoWeek - 3-Series:
"Besides iDrive, another new 3 Series option that throws us into office debates is Active Steering. Under most circumstances it is good technology. Particularly in the city, Active Steering pays for itself, with turns lock-to-lock coming down to just one and two-thirds from the standard three. But as we noticed on the 6 Series while apex-hunting on a two-lane and using second and third gears, the technology can get overactive as it tries to catch up with your moves. Slow down abruptly and tuck into a 180-degree left while notching down to second, and you?ll sometimes feel the steering ratio recalibrating itself precisely as you execute the curve. It is not a great feeling, and the solution is not that we need to get used to it. The technology needs to improve, or we need to be able to deactivate Active Steering in sportier moments."

Thanks, drjochen. You do well with both.
Now, does this mean that those of us with SMG are stranded with collectibles? ? ? ? ? mixed emotions?

My Ride: 2005 545i SMG. Titanium Grey with Grey interior and Anthracite wood.
I was just notified by my SA BMWNA is going to do a "Coladeral Return" on my car. I don't know why they call it that, but BMW is taking my car back and I need to make a decision on what to do.
Order a new car or not?

Go with Lexus Porno GS430 J/K
I talked to my sale rep yesterday and he said that current SMG on 5-series are not proven like the one on M3. I am sure if he's right or not, but so far, he's partially right.
bmwin14rsm, wait until September for new 5.

[/quote]I agree with beewang, to state the transmission isn't proven isn't correct, and it was my car which had the transmission trouble. With any new piece of technology, you should expect the production run isn't 100% perfect. I bought the 545 knowing the technology is the most complex and technologically sofisticated in the world. Knowing this, I praise BMW for taking these risks and providing its clients with this technology.
