I can't believe BMW made Xenon and Logic 7 standard equipment for 330i
Taking off the cost of the 6 cd changer from $1800 L7's cost, I still paid like $1100 for something that 330i will get as standard. I am happy for those future E90 owners provided that they don't raise the price of E90 that much. I hope BMW can keep up the value trend for the new cars to come. |
BMW has offered me to fix the car and BMW pays the payments until the car is fixed, or buy the car back, I would get my deposit back and I could then make the decision on what I want to do with another car later.
I am now considering the new 330 SMG instead of the 545i SMG. Any comments? |

When they said fix the car CAN they fix it? it seems like they had your car for a while ands till no results yet... If they are willing to fix it and make payments for you in the meantime and put you in a loner 530 then I would so go with that option. |
:( I am sad to say, I no longer have my 545i. Yesterday, I received a check from BMW and turned my car in. I'm not sure what I am going to do. I was thinking of doing an ED on another 545i smg in June for my 9th annaversery.
|
That is exactly what I would have done had I needed to follow through with the Texas Lemon Law hearing. Get a later generation at a reduced cost.
At this point, my Lemon Law hearing was scheduled for March 2, but I have asked for a 60 day postponement to continue to evaluate the most recent fix. So far, it appears that BMW has the complaint settled, but it worked good for a couple of thousand miles once before and then blooey. |

Its DOES include SMG, and notes it starts production in September.? Active steering is a stand alone option on all cars, i dont care what that story says, BMW is not stopping SMG production.
I haven't heard that rumour before, but what is confusing is, that the guy who was quoted in the article is a BMW rep. Anyways, hope you're right...

As for HUD, I think I will pass again.? I thought the HUD showed the gear I am in and I confirmed with beewang it doesn't.
And who knows... Maybe one day there will be a software update that allows the displaying of the gears...
To me, this would be the killer app of the HUD - a manual transmission implictly tells you what gear you are in without having to move your eyes but as nice the SMG is it still requires you to look down into the dash. How do we petition for this change to BMW AG? :) |
I don't know, but count me in. OTOH, anyone who can't get the lock/unlock chirp right, doesn't stand a chance at optimizing the HUD menu for the relatively few of us that have SMG. :(
|
As much as I'd love the gear indication to be included in the HUD (I was one of the original suggesters of this feature and I sincerley hope it will be added in the future,) I will say that after a while, you get so used to the SMG that you begin to "feel" the car and you really don't need to know what gear you're in by any indicator.
There's a point where you just "know" what yoiu need to do as far as gear changes... |
Maybe so, Rudy, but at 9500 miles, I haven't gotten to that point. :(

Maybe they change their minds... We need to keep telling them that we NEED it... :P |

The Emmy has it, and the Emmy has to be something special. So giving this feature to the regular E60 would take something away from that Emmy-Speciality... In their eyes...

If it never does, the one thing that'll happen, if it already hasn't, is that your eye will become trained on exactly where the indicator is so you'll be able to glance at the indicator without any thinking behind it so again, I'd love to see the thing get added to the HUD but it becomes less of an issue with time... |

I'm not asking for what the M has (tach, etc.) just a simple number like the one in between the speedo and tach repeated up in the HUD.?

I might have found the replacement for my Titanium Silver 545. I am working on the deal tonight. If I get it, I will let the forum know.
|
Good luck. I liked the specs on the one you had.
|
Similar, but with HUD, sun shade and fold down seats.
|
That's sounds even better. I've enjoyed HUD and would not give up the fold-down seats. Good luck again.
|
WOW!!! GOOD GOOD GOOD!! Irvine BMW also? So did you get the car??? :wow:
|
I am trying to work with Irvine BMW on this car. I haven't finalized the deal yet.
|
Hope you finalize it soon. :)

I droped off my new 2005 545i SMG for v16 and asked my serivce advisor about my old car. I found out my old car is still at Irvine BMW and BMWna is doing a complete research and investigation on my car and hasn't released it yet. I don't know what they are doing, but they still haven't found out why it had the problem it had.
On a good note, my new 2005 545i SMG is great and not having transmission problems. |
