I just noticed that my 530xi moved from production to "Awaiting Transport." Does anybody know the approximate time frame it takes from this stage until delivery?

Awaiing transport could take another week (waiting for a ship to sail from Brev)
3 weeks to the East cost
4 days in customs
5 days at VPC
7 days on carrier to dealer
1 day at dealer
Give or take.

I don't want to hijack your thread, but how long did it take to move out of "On Order"? My 530xi order is a week old.

Horzmad gives some good ranges for the various steps, but as he points out, there is some variability. As an example, my car took 7 days from landing in Charleston to arriving at my dealer. This compares to the roughly 2 weeks Horzmad describes, but it does really depend on getting through customs, how backed up they are at the VPC and finally, where and how many stops the truck has to make in delivering your car.
Edit: And as a side note, don't rely on the OC website, it is usually behind. The day my car arrived at the dealer, it still said Awaiting Transport. Your salesperson can get more up-to-date info, or do a search here and get the BMWNA 800 number.

"Your mileage may vary", but this was my recent experience . . .
28 Mar ... Order
--> 4 Apr ... Production
----> 8 Apr ... Wait Transport
--------> 15 Apr ... En Route
-----------> 29 Apr ... VPC
-------------> 9 May ... Delivered

Magneto, I think is an example of where the dealer already had the production allocation and was able to add/subtract options to make it Magneto's car.? 7 days between ordering and going into production is a bit quicker than most folks have experienced.

I posted this to respond to the original question regarding time from "Awaiting Transport" until delivery. Here, I think my experience is likely typical for US Midwest delivery.
Also, I agree that the '800' number was usually more up to date (and more granular) in its status. The number is still on my desk here in the office . . . .
It is 800- 831-1117

True.? I took one of the dealer's allocated slots when I negotiated my deal.
