How come Glasgow and not a local dealer? Make sure you count the wheels and get a free haggis!

Don't you think its amazing how we in the UK buy German cars and get information from an American forum

Hello N16E,
Congratulations on the new car - I'm pretty new to this forum, the people are great here so welcome, you'll enjoy it.

As everyone else has mentioned - Post some pics soon!

Some 15 years ago 163hp was respected value for sedan like e60, but this new hp war has made us, consumers, picky. I'm 100% sure that 520d goes as fast and as far as needed! But for me there is never enough power.

Maybe buy 130i for power (toy) and 520d for everyday use and for Mrs.

Haha, nice idea skaffa. I think the 130i is really nice to drive. Does anyone know why the 130 has got 7hp more?

I believe this has been discussed in detail somewhere else on this forum, but without looking I think its a shorter induction route and differing exhaust setup...

Saw this on the web the other day. Excellent!

Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. And the most British thing of all? Suspicion of anything foreign.

It's simple. UK built cars are utter rubbish. Chinese and Indians are prepared to work hard - run local takeaway is hard work. British people are quite lazy, and will buy what's easy.

If UK built cars were any good, people might buy them. But there aren't, so we don't. We don't buy French, so it leaves the Germans. But I still think I'd buy German, even if UK cars weren't crap.

British people go to an Irish pub because it's close by, not because it's Irish. And they buy Belgian beer because British lager is crap, or becuase it's cheaper than something else. OK, yes, I'm cynical.

As with sport, the rest of the world is better at everything. Including cars, beer, and food.
