My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.

I had my first two alignments done at the dealer and it cost about $300 as I recall.

I just had my car into my brake shop to get the rotors turned and I had them do the 4-Wheel alignment for $100.

Is there something that BMW is offering for this alignment that I am not getting from my local shop, or was I just getting hosed by the dealer.

For a RWD BMW I'm sure a competent shop with experience with "euro" cars and a proper alignment rig should be able handle a BMW. If it were AWD I'd only rely on a BMW store.

My guy charges me $70 at tire works for alignment and it includes a 1 year warranty bring it in anytime within the year, and get another one for free no questions asked.

It's always interesting how when the word "special" is used it equates to $$$$

Good point. I checked with my alignment shop and he said his computer alignment system is setup to handle the Active Steering. He said there was some parameters that they set and have to make sure certain things are centered.

Sounded good to me....and the cost was significantly cheaper. I guess time will tell with the tire wear.

Do you need some kind of special mention or coupon? I was there earlier this month and I was quoted $199. I passed for the time being but I have to get an alignment done.
