Hi gianton,

my car is going in on thursday - i will then be able to list exactly what has been changed but i guess the usual suspects: couple of liters of oil, oil filter and a fix amount to change the oil...

It sounds expensive if it's just what used to be an "oil change" in the old BMW OC/I1/OC/I2 pattern. This sounds more like an Inspection service i.e. all filters, including a/c microfilter, possibly spark plugs, taking apart brakes (in theory) , checking suspension etc.

I think if you look on the service menu on the iDrive you should get a pretty good idea of what they should replace/check.

They charge me around ?150,00 for an oil service. That's for my E39 520i.

That's very expensive, don't know what they charge for the E60/61's though.

really - just an oil change. all i did was called them to make an appointment, they asked what needs to be done, and i said just an oil change - nothing else. at the end i asked, how much would this cost, they then quoted me with 300 eur....

the plugs, the microfilter and the brakes don't need to be changes - thanx god otherwise i woudl need to take up a bank loan

I'd give a call to a couple of other dealers around and cancel your appointment if they come up with very different quotes.

The amount sounds odd; I have an inclusive package on my E61, and I've only had the car for 2 months, so I don't (yet) know how much it is, but the E39 535i I had before was about ?130 for an oil change and ?300 for an inspection - and it was a V8!

I don't understand how you came to the conclusion that you (well, ok, the car) need an oil change if the SBC indicators are not asking for one, though.

The car is indeed yelling for a oil change, but c'est tout - nothing else. i have called around a couple of dealers here in Vienna, and it seems like the 8-9 liters of oil is the expensive part of the 300 eur... in 3 days i should know more..

Crazy idea, perhaps - but have you tried in Bratislava? The odd 50 km may pay for itself many times over...

So here the exact costs for a 25,000 km oil change:
34 EUR for a standard check
24 EUR service motor oil
19 EUR filter
230 EUR for 8,25 l of 0W-30ll04 oil
total: 307 EUR

quite a bit for an oil change, but i guess this is the price you pay for driving a bmw....

see you rumman
