Hi all,

My dealer called me and they are telling me they are getting tough on 24months lease. Are you experiencing the same? They keep saying the price went up for 24months. I really dont like 36months.

What car do you want to lease? I'll find and paste the BMW FS base money factor and residual for 24 and 36 months if I can locate it quickly.

Generally, BMWFS's best programs (lowest monthly payments) are on 36 month leases.

Either 528xi or X5.

Either 528xi or X5.
These are the BMWFS residuals and base rate money factors for September 2009 that I found.

2010 BMW 528i xDrive Sedan
24 Month ? Residual 62% of MSRP ? .00155 Base Rate
36 Month ? Residual 58% of MSRP ? .00155 Base Rate
48 Month ? Residual 36% of MSRP ? .00255 Base Rate
60 Month ? Residual 30% of MSRP ? .00255 Base Rate

2010 BMW X5 xDrive 30i
24 Month ? Residual 63% of MSRP ? .00190 Base Rate
36 Month ? Residual 57% of MSRP ? .00190 Base Rate
48 Month ? Residual 39% of MSRP ? .00255 Base Rate
60 Month ? Residual 33% of MSRP ? .00255 Base Rate

2010 BMW X5 xDrive 35d
24 Month ? Residual 61% of MSRP ? .00255 Base Rate
36 Month ? Residual 55% of MSRP ? .00255 Base Rate
48 Month ? Residual 39% of MSRP ? .00255 Base Rate
60 Month ? Residual 33% of MSRP ? .00255 Base Rate

2010 BMW X5 xDrive 48i
24 Month ? Residual 64% of MSRP ? .00180 Base Rate
36 Month ? Residual 58% of MSRP ? .00180 Base Rate
48 Month ? Residual 35% of MSRP ? .00255 Base Rate
60 Month ? Residual 29% of MSRP ? .00255 Base Rate

2010 BMW X5 M
24 Month ? Residual 56% of MSRP ? .00250 Base Rate
36 Month ? Residual 52% of MSRP ? .00250 Base Rate
48 Month ? Residual 35% of MSRP ? .00255 Base Rate
60 Month ? Residual 30% of MSRP ? .00255 Base Rate

These residuals are for 15K miles per year. The residual is 2% higher for 12K miles per year and 3% higher for 10K miles per year.

These figures are from LeaseCompare.com (I cut and pasted them). I checked on Edmunds.com and did not see any rebates/marketing support/trunk money on either the 2010 X5 or the 2010 528xi.

Best of luck.

The best lease deal of the bunch is the 528xi for 36 months -- 58% residual and .00155 base rate money factor. The 24 month deal for this car is also good. Please be aware that BMW dealers are allowed to mark up the money factor -- don't accept that. You tell them immediately that you know what the base rate money factor and the residuals are and that you will not do a deal without them as is. The key negotiating term (once that is set in stone) is the selling price of the car. As always, negotiate up from the dealer's cost (invoice + MACO + training fee minus any incentives) and not down from MSRP. MSRP in car buying negotiations is meaningless.

As you can see the spread on the residual between 24 & 36 mos is very close (4-8%).
1 1/2 year ago it was like 15%. Basiclly there're telling you not to lease 24 mos if you have
to you'll pay a hefty price. GL

Correct. BMWFS's best lease terms have traditionally been the 36 month lease. Not surprisingly, both of my BMW 5 Series' leases have been 36 months.

The length of the lease is up to you. You will just have higher monthly payments with 24 months based on the current BMWFS programs.

how to calculate that? so how much should 24months pay vs36months pay? let's say the car cost $50k MSRP
