The changes are only from September 2005 production

The USA is the only place that calls current cars 2006 models

Yes, that's right. MY06 starts September. The USA calls current E60's allready MY06, since there have been engine changes in March, for marketing reasons only.
The real MY switchover is September, no matter what they call it in the USA.

what is the spot by the steering wheel?? somewhere to hold the key?? do you have to put the key in, then hit start??

Yes. Insert the key and then push start.
If you have keyless go you don't need to insert the key, but that's an option you have to pay for.

...and maps if you have business nav.

The pic shows nav pro. The right section of the screen is blank, but it's there. take a closer look and you'll see.

The introduction of maps to bus nav will certainly be a good thing. Hope its a retro fit for you guys with it. The start/stop button is a nonsense IMHO. Instead of having a leather controller they should illuminate it! Make more sense.

Not sure if its pro nav. There is no second cd slot in the dash and there is a cubby hole there.

The nav pic and the one button pic is not from that 5 Series

It is nav pro, the original poster on another forum said he was just showing birds eye view

so what's the point of having a start button if you have to insert the key anyways?? and it looks the place where you put in the key turns? so you put the key in, turn it, then push the start button??

No. You just put the key in. You don't turn it, instead you push the start button. This only makes sense if you get the keyless go option too.
