My Ride: 2005 545i, Orient Blue, Black Interior, Sport Package, Satellite
I am about to lease a 530i and the dealer is telling me that the '06 money factor is .00290 while the '05 money factor is .00165. Does anyone with familiarity with current lease rates know if these are good rates? If so, it cost just about as much to lease an '05 545i as an '06 530. This doesn't make sense to me.

Yes, its cheaper to lease a 545 than a 06 530 right now.

Do you have rates assuming 12,000 miles a year? Also, are you sure those 530 rates are on an '06?

Ooopps...fixed w/ 2006 model info.
For 12K leases, add 2% to the residual.

After talking to two dealers this weekend, they aren't offering me the low 545i rates--- instead of a small premium over the .001 rate mentioned above, one dealer is offering .0014 and the other is offering .00165. Should I expect better than that?

I kept working the dealers and managed to get 3% over dealer cost and .0012 on the money factor on an '05 545i.

If you are really looking for a lease deal on the 545i, go check the ED forum at
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25. I'm sure you can do better than 3% over invoice if you work with ED friendly dealers. Also, with European delivery, residual is still based on US MSRP, not European Delivery MSRP.

Thanks for the tip. I'm getting a low-end 545i-- only option is the sport package and satellite prep, so 3% is $1.6K over. ED is problematic for me-- I need a car sooner, getting to Munich is not easy to work into my schedule and the cost savings when you are leasing aren't as substantial.

Dunno about cost savings not as substantial. I just did an ED 545, fully loaded, 67K US MSRP and my lease is less than $680 a month including tax. (12K a year/3 years).
Anyway, the residuals will drop 2% next month so time to jump on it before april ends.
