No oil leaks, no coolant leaks, new CCV, brake booster hose, DISA Valve, etc….

This first production year of the E60 was actually made in Germany and uses the bulletproof older style M54 engine, which makes parts cheap and readily available.

I've done a lot of work on this car, I’ve spent almost $4k in parts and countless hours bringing this car back to life documented on my YouTube @besthombre.

It’s got some typical scratches and dings for a 20yr old car, but the main issue is that the catalytic converters are bad, would need new cats to pass inspection.

Secondary issues: could use new tie rods and the vanos seals have probably never been done.

Maintenance (under my ownership)

1. 5/6/23, 88,605, NGK double platinum spark plugs, replaced DISA VALVE, New Power steering reservoir + flush fluid, new cabin air filters
2. 5/13/23 - sea foam into gas and oil ran for 20 miles
3. 5/16/23 - 88,732 Changed Oil with liqui moly 5w30, Mann oil filter, and changed oil level sensor with hella, and changed batteries for siren alarm, and cleaned MAF hopefully that helps. Checked suspension, bushings looks ok, maybe something in steering rack is clicking.
4. 5/28/23 - 88,738 - Installed Used Intake Cover Lid from 2007 525i with OEM MAF. The new/used MAF works better and actually tracks the engine RPM in testing, but car still throws lean Code for bank 1 and even a cylinder 4 and 5 misfire and multiple random misfire.
5. 5/30/23 - 88,968 - Drove car 300 miles to and from Red Bank. Reset Trip odometer and filled up with 91. Car went from avg. 17.7 mpg over last 5,695 miles at an average speed of 17.5mph to over 31 MPG with mostly highway at avg mph 45 MPH for 287 miles. Car threw a check engine while in drive through, this time only code was for lean air mixture in Bank 1.
6. 6/17/23 - 89,214 all new Delphi coil packs
7. 6/19/23 - 89,216 retorque valve cover bolts in sequence.
8. 6/21/23 - 89,241- New Drivers Seat Belt Stopper, new Steering wheel cover stitched on.
9. 6/22/23- 89,241 - install good used 2007 Fuel door actuator, with new Bowden cable to fix broken lock. Replaced broken ejection pistion.
10. 7/3/22 - 89,242 Register car, install front plate
11. 7/12/23 - 89,242 Replaced all 6 fuel injectors w/refurbished 325i injectors. Installed 6 new spark plugs BKR6EQUP style
12. 7/13/23 - Install 2 new Pre-Cat O2 Sensors.
13. 7/13/23 - Failed NJ inspection for systems not ready
14. Drove to red bank Now getting codes for CAT on full throttle pull…. 34.3mpg rough idle, definite vacuum leak still. vacuum pump freeze frame data shows bank 2 is perfect now (STFT-0.78%, LTFT-8.59%), but bank 1 (STFT 9.38%, LTFT 7.81%), 87% throttle position, 40.39 MPH, 3602 RPM,
15. 8/27/23 89,482 miles, new ccv valve and hoses kit, new brake vacuum hose and suction jet pump, new multi air gaskets, new throttle gasket, cleaned throttle cleaned oil dipstick drainages, new oil dipstick gaskets at bottom and on the stick,
16. 9/3/23 89,522 New Vaico DISA valve from fcp euro
17. 9/13/23 went on emissions ready drive, o2 sensors set but once catalyst was going to set, bam cat codes

New cats are about $400 each, I just don't have time anymore, I spent all summer getting this to where it is.
