My Ride: 545i Sport 6-speed manual
E60 545i Sport 6-speed manual for sale
Up for sale is my Orient blue, 2005 BMW 545i Sport with 32-valve, twin cam N62 V8 motor and rare 6-speed manual transmission. 325 horsepower and sub 6-second 0-60. The 6M is a simple and precise transmission. Clutch is perfect. Active steering offers laser sharp control at all speeds – you can feel the difference. Handling is sharp and precise and very controlled for a 3700 lb car and yet the ride is really great; I have a bad back so this matters to me. Roomy interior in great condition – gear shift leaver and steering wheel look brand new. It has the sport package which means 18” staggered wheels and black out trim. Around 88k miles though may go up as I am driving it. The paint has a few dings and scratches from daily use but it looks outstanding for its age. Clean title. Synthetic oil.
The good
Tires, front brake pads, oil pressure sensor, water pump and related hoses replaced within the last 5k miles
Did some servicing just after I bought it, everything below was done around 70K miles;
New spark plugs
New coil packs
New air filter
New cabin filter
New clutch switch
New integrated supply module (engine sensor fuse block)
New negative battery cable/integrated battery sensor
New battery
New Crank position sensor
Active steering calibrated by BMW
Previous owner told me they replaced the following before selling it to me (I have receipt)
Spark plugs (though they were cheap dealer grade I replaced promptly after purchase)
Valve cover gaskets
Timing cover gasket
Vacuum pump seal
MAF sensor
2 chain guides
2 chain tensioners
Cam shaft sensor
2 injectors
Passenger airbag ignition
1 valvetronic motor
Carfax indicates the following;
Alternator replacement 57K
Thermostat replacement 65k
The bad
Burns oil/ smokes a little (intermittent). Common with N62 motor. Burning about a quart of oil between oil changes.
Service engine soon light is on. Something wrong with the secondary air pump or the air passages have carbon build up. Either way it doesn’t affect drivability; it’s just emissions.
Headliner a little droopy but not bad
Parking sensors don’t work
Airbag light is on
Car is located in Virginia. This is actually a really nice car; comfortable, quick, drives great and looks good. All the negatives are no big deal in terms of drivability – I drive it every day like this. However, I am setting the price a little lower because the airbag will need to be addressed. KBB Fair Condition is $2,837-$4,514. Asking $2200.
