My Ride: 2005 535d Touring
Hi there,
I have put my BMW 535d Touring up for sale. Production date 03/2005. Car is located in Luxembourg and has analogous plates. It has clocked in 137k km, of which the great majority on German highways. Maintenance carried out always and exclusively at BMW dealer. I have put in a lot of effort to keep the car in good shape.
Has:
Navigation Professional (with 2009-2 and 2010 CDs),
iPod interface (mounted),
(6 CD changer also included, but not mounted),
Panoramic sunroof,
Heated seats,
Auto A/C,
PDC,
Bluetooth,
Summer wheel kit: 8,5x19 172 rims with ContiSP3 245/35 all around (good shape),
Winter wheel kit: 8,5x17 rims with Nokian WRG2 235/45 all around (good shape),
Mobility Kit,
Spare tire,
external M-Kit.
All BMW service receipts provided to purchaser as the carry a warantee.
Reason for sale: country move to where road tax and full insurance are double.
If you are really interested, e-mail/PM me with your offer. This said, I do not wish to sell the car, but have decided to do so tentatively and will only consider giving her away if the offer is good enough.
Cheers,
Alex

Hello Alex,
Not interested in the car itself, already got a similar one, but I'd like to know whether you'd sell the summer set (assuming it is on the Nokian set now?) or you want to keep the whole package complete?
Just out of curiosity: which (expensive) country are you moving to?

Hi guys,
Yep... got the winter set on now, so I guess I'd consider it selling the 172 wheel set separately, but then I don't know how I'd negotiate that with a potential buyer.
The summer wheel set is composed of 4 x 8.5x19 172s with good SP3s on them. This is also accompanied with an older (not good for the touring version) set of 9.5x19 172 (with worn SP2s on them).
Two of the 8.5x19s are 1 years old. Another two are ~2-2.5 yrs. old, as are the 9.5x19s. Some have a couple of scratches on them, but are in good shape.
I guess if you gave me an offer Theo I could factor it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm moving from Luxemburg to Belgium.
Road tax is:
- LU is 299EUR/yr
- BE it is 700EUR/yr
This I could live with, but...
Immatriculation Tax (putting plates on it) in BE is a one-off 2700EUR.
Also consider insurance:
- LU: full cover: 1900EUR/yr
- BE: full cover: 3800EUR/yr [with franchise... dunno what it's called in EN].
Maybe I'm moving to the wrong country; they definitely don't want me to be able to keep the car.
Cheers,
Alexis

Hello Alex,
Well, taxes seem to get steeper as one moves North ... If you would cross one more border on your move Northward you'd pay about:
Road taxes: ? 1740 / year
Insurance (FC): ? 2500 and up / year depending on your history etc.
And some ? 6500 in taxes to put the license plates on it (assuming you'd formally import the car which is likely).
About the 172's: I'm not sure what would be a good price, I can get them from Germany at the Dealer http://cgi.ebay.de/ORIGINAL-BMW-5-E61-TOURING-M-DOPPELSPEICHE-172-RADSATZ-/330440811156?pt=Auto_Komplettr%C3%A4der&hash=item4cefcea294 for ? 1999 brand new but I guess you've got better tires on them with the PS3's? If you want to discuss the 172's feel free to PM me if you like. If you rather keep it all together, no problem of course.
Regardless, I'd put the two redundant 9,5's up for sale on ebay.de if I were you: seen lots of partial 172 sets being moved there for excellent prices...

If this price interests you and you are not in a rush (e.g.: you want them for the rainy summer season - I assume the weather in the NL is same as that of BE), I'll see what sort of deal can be cut with with any potential buyer.
Question: Why don't you try and cut a deal with the e-bay vendor [it is a BMW vendor] for the new set of 172s WITH SP5s?
Cheers,
Alex

I haven't been around the forum lately, so long-time no-see on the forum...
You still have the gracious 550i lady? How's she treating you?
All the best,
Alex

My 550i is patiently waiting to get its winter tyres fitted -- I went on holiday for a week, it started snowing like crazy whilst I was away and now I have to wait another week to get them fitted And I just received my Sprint Booster V2 and cannot test it out But hey, they're all luxury problems
As for taxes, in Denmark you have a registration fee of 180% of the current car value, so believe me, it could be worse!
You're probably going to "lose" money selling a modded car, so the taxes wouldn't bother me in your case. But that insurance quote you wrote above is plain crazy -- nothing better out there? MAybe you can find a Belgian BMW forum to ask for advice on where to get a better deal? I don't want to interfer with your planned sale here, but it just seems a shame after the effort you have put into putting such a great car together.
And as for your rims, remember that whoever buys an M-Sport E61 without summer wheels will have to factor in around 1500-2000 EUR to buy an OEM set, unless they already have plans do something "special" themselves anyway. So just factor that in, because the buyer will!
Good luck with it all and enjoy that beast as much as possible
