Pictures don't do it justice. It looks awesome on the road. I might also add, if you criticize, you envy it in some way...

I live in the Los Angeles area and every single day I see AT LEAST 5 or 6 of these on the road, not to mention that I went and took a close look at a Benz dealer when it first came out. I can tell you one thing the side and rear profiles were ugly when I first saw it at the dealership and they are still ugly when I see them on the street every day. The only part that looks OK to me is the front.
The sad thing is that if the third row seats of the upcoming E70 X5 are completely useless AND if BMW does make the V5 in a (rumored) 5 seater version instead of the previously thought 6 or 7 seater version then we may have to resort to getting this Benz as a replacement for my wife's X5. We need more than a 5 seater and there is no way I am going to get any of the minivans available in the US, so it does not leave me much choice. I wish they would import the MB Viano van or the VW Multivan to the US, but if they don't I would not be getting any of the current van offerings in the US.
So I hope the E70 X5 or the V5 (which is still 2 or 3 years away appearetly) have what we want in space and seating capacity, otherwise we may have to get this ugly R class (God forbid)

My Ride: Arrived 3 June 2005: 2005 545i - Orient Blue, Black interior, Sport, Steptronic, Cold Weather, NAV, Sirius, Logic7, Comfort Seats, Sunshades. What a glorious ride!
I don't think it's all that ugly, but I have no desire to own a minivan regardless of the marque.
Among minivans, I think the Chrysler Pacifica is the best looking. It's certainly the most comfortable to ride in. Nice vehicle for my neighbors and friends to own!

Consider a range rover sport instead.

I think this vehicle is the most hideous contraption ever to hit US soil, or any soil for that matter ... Yes, IMHO, it's WORSE than the Pontiac Aztek... Any time I see one on the road, it makes me a bit angry
