We got an X5 for my wife back in 2000, before we had kids. We love the X5 and to us it does not feel or drive like most other SUV's.....it's all BMW. We now have two kids and last year my wife started complaining that swing out doors were hard to deal with when she is trying to put the kids in their child seats and that she wanted a mini van so that she could get sliding doors. She also wanted a car that would seat more than 5 people. I fought her vigorously on this and was finally successfull in convincing her that minivans are not the way to go and she should reconsider the need for sliding doors.
I gave in and got the mini van. There was NO emotion involved in buying the thing. It was like shopping for an appliance. Just work the deal and sign the paper. I quickly found out that most Toyota dealers are about as good and honest as a New York City street dealer. Then when we came home with it my wife was all happy about the new car and asked my 5 y/o son what he thought of it. He just looked at it and said "I don't like it". He liked the X5 better. At least that was one lesson I didn't have to teach. He made me proud that day

I agree the fronts really fugly...
I have said this before but the sad thing is that the front is still the best part of the car because the rear is even uglier and the side view is a disaster, especially the very back side window section.
