Guys,

I went to Volkswagen dealer yesterday and see the new 08 Touareg.
Man, I think this car is well worth it. The price range is better than the new X5, and the 3.6L engine has 280 hp and 265 torque.
The look of touareg 2 is also aggresive.
I think the only thing that X5 win from this car is just the idrive.
I'm not sure about the safety yet though.
What do you think guys?
Do you guys think it's a good choice to get Touareg 2 rather than the new X5?

I didn't drive that one.
But, I tested drive my friend's touareg, his is 06 one.
IMHO, the seats are comfortable though. but, I think the 06 has 40 horsepower less than the 08.
The handling is almost the same as the new X5.
I drove dealer's X5 about a month ago, so I kinda have the picture.

This is a last ditch effort to save a bad SUV from a silly strategy...... don't bother

my friend went from an escalade to a touareg. now he regrets trading in the escalade for a POS (even if its a german car)

IMO, X5 or Range Rover

Maybe based on snob appeal but not based on driving them, I'ld give the Porsche top spot only in the Turbo version . Range Rover is lumbersome and top heavy.. Best all round hands down is the new X5 4.8

Personally, I like the X5 but I think the the Porsche (in either S or Turbo) is a better drive - and I also think you do the Range Rover something of a disservice. The Range Rover is the most capable if you ever go off the pavement - it's much more capable off-road than the X5.

The problem with this thread is that there was no criteria for basis for discussion(other than looks ie Yoko), my points are based on 100% on road driving. I've driven all the cars and still stand by my point, if we add value I would discount the Turbo Cayenne to #2.IMHO
Many Cheers
