1esquire is dead on. It's a direct result of the CAFE and similar regulations (which, in fairness, aren't entirely down to Socialists...) and it is indeed only available to current AM owners. Unlike Ferrari which can leverage FIAT or Porsche which can bake in some VW action, AM has no other way to maintain its current fleet in light of the CAFE regs. Shame they're reduced to this, but you've got to do what you've got to do...

True, seeing them produce this pathetic excuse for a performance car IS better than seeing them have to close their doors due to overly strict regulations. It will be interesting to see what other high performance car builders do to satisfy the regs as well, like Gumpert, Zonda, McLaren, et al.

At least now I know why BMW and MB have been producing bicycles the last few years, that REALLY boosts their company wide fuel economy
