For example, I take particular pleasure in beating an Audi on a wet back road because the driver is thinking the quattro makes him/her superior. A sport package BMW with summer tires gives so much feedback you know where the limit is rain or shine and feel more comfortable exploiting it. Maybe a rally driver could exploit the quattro to the fulllest, but with higher profile all season tires and a healthy dose of body roll, no A4 or A6 is taking me on a back road. Also, I love to take Acuras. Acura fans think the Type-R and S are untouchable...then along comes a BMW. I used to outrun them in my 740i sport and they would look so dissapointed. I know this is a childish post, but does anyone else have particular targets on the road?

I wouldn't want to play too hard on a wet road unless the RFTs are switched out for better tires. The stock RFTs on the 550 sport are OK on dry pavement but are awful in the wet.

I agree 100% with you I drove quite fast when I had the RFT and they dont grip that well in the wet.
now I have 19" Conventional tyres which are 1000 time better in wet and dry.
Drive safly and be cool

Wow, I had no idea that the RFTs are lacking in wet grip. I am installing style 166 M5 wheels with Michelin PS2s on the 550i at delivery. The car I was referring to in my post was my 740i sport I just sold. After driving that car in the rain with the M tuned suspension and pilot sport tires, I finally understood why they don't cancel Formula One races in wet conditions. I also have an X5 and my wife has a 325xi, both of which have the Michelin MXV4s and they are both a little scarry at the limit in the rain, but the 740i sport handled the same in the wet as it did in the dry just with a lower ultimate threshold of grip. Very predictable, very fun challenge. I wonder why the run flats are not as good in the wet? Could it have something to do with the stiffer sidewalls? Generally Bridgestones have excellent wet traction.

I like beating E320 CDI, CL500 also toying alot with racer style RX-8, and almost all pumped-up FWD cars (like Type-r, GTI, Leon Cupra), EVO 8 at higher speeds and recently even Evo 9 (from roll-on even though it's a tie pretty much), having fun with a particular 745i , so you can see mostly pretty serious petrol cars
