Go with whatever moves you. I put off buying a new car for 2 years in anticipation of the new E60. I was looking to buy a car in 2002 and I settled on the 530. I test drove it and then started researching it. Soon pics and spect for the e60 started hitting the net. I kept reading and reading. I wanted it. I test drove everything under the sun. I wanted a good car below $75,000 US. I settled on the e60. I really shouldn't say settle. It was the car I wanted. Every day I told my wife that I wanted it. I would bring her by the dealership to show her. Wehn she asked what I wanted for my birthday, chrismas, valentines or whatever I would answer a BMW 530.
I now finally have it and couln't be happier. I love my car. Anything else, JAG, Porsche, MB, Lexus would just be a car to me. My e60 is my baby.
Any questions?

I bought my wife an Acura MDX.? It has a lot of noises from brakes, gas tank (swishing), suspension, etc. Eventhough, the 3.5l VTEC engine is rated at 260 HP, it is sluggish in daily commutes.? The German car with lower HP rating seems much better in the power delivery.
RL is built in Japan, so the quality will be much better.? The "out of door" price between my European Delivery 545i is actually very close to the new RL.? My 545 is well loaded.? Most of Acura dealers will be charging @ MSRP or over for the new RL in the first year.
I heard the new Infiniti M35/M45 is coming out soon.? You should also consider that car.

I do agee w/ Katmai that Infiniti is a way better Japanese than Acura, I had QX4 before, I do think by far it's better than any Acura. But if I has to buy a Japanese, I'll go for Lexus, bullet proof....
But I think one really shouldn't compare Acura and BMW, they are cars from 2 different planet, BMW is build for "drivers" - ultimate driving machine, Acura is built for "buyers" - bang for the buck...
If that $16000 is really meaningful to you, y not go for a Honda Accord? It's a great car for great price! But if you decide to spend some extra money for yourself to enjoy the car, maybe you should consider to spend that $16000 for a BMW, you won't regret it!

I don't know how good the new Infiniti M45 is going to be but the current model does have 355hp and good acceleration. I had a deal to get one at about 5000USD under MSRP. Then I test drove a 545 on the same stretch of road about 1 hour later. The handling of the BMW blew the Infiniti away and I suspect it is superior to the 70/30 Acura as well. If the $$$ is such a priority why not get a TL and save even more?

Marketing people always want to post high horsepower number first. Horsepower is selling the car. 225hp was measured at flywheel. Somewhere in the forum world, someone posted BMW hp at the rear wheels was about low 190hp.

flywheel(sometimes called "crank"-measured at the engine turning hp (no drive train)
rear wheel-hp measured on a dynometer including the drive train-trans,rearend, wheels.
rear wheel hp will always be less than flywheel hp measurement.

There is no doubt that Honda cars are fast... especially on the expensive model. However, buying a 5er here we don't talk solely on performance and horsepower, we talk about the refinement of the car, and the most important is the balance between handling and comfort....
