[quote name='Jimbo' date='Oct 12 2004, 02:28 PM']You can also checkout the 530i. Handles better and has enough hp to move out when you need it. You might want to wait until the middle of the year for the new 530 motor.

More hp isn't everything, especially in a front wheel drive car like the Acura. As soon as you stomp on it, you'll get understeer all the time except when going straight.

Thanks for the responce, but the new RL is all wheel drive.

Okay, but in all fairness... you realize that the RL's All Wheel drive system is based on a front wheel drive system right?? (Unlike the BMW/Porsche AWD system which is rear wheel biased) It is a front wheel biased AWD system.

cheers,

Yup -- the default settings on the RL all wheel drive are 70% front/30% rear torque split, so it is definitely a front wheel drive bias

I bought my wife an Acura MDX. It has a lot of noises from brakes, gas tank (swishing), suspension, etc. Eventhough, the 3.5l VTEC engine is rated at 260 HP, it is sluggish in daily commutes. The German car with lower HP rating seems much better in the power delivery.

RL is built in Japan, so the quality will be much better. The "out of door" price between my European Delivery 545i is actually very close to the new RL. My 545 is well loaded. Most of Acura dealers will be charging @ MSRP or over for the new RL in the first year.

I heard the new Infiniti M35/M45 is coming out soon. You should also consider that car.

If you want something that you don't have to take into service a lot and is 100% reliable, get the RL. If you want something less common that not a lot of people have and gets lots of looks, get the 5 series. It looks good and IS a head turner. My 530 does handle well, too, but the electronics/stereo just can't competewith the Japanese....

With regards to the Stereo, I have to assume that you do not have the Logic-7 system. Because the L-7 is better than any Japanese permium OEM system I've seen.

I will consider buying CIVIC than Acura RL.

I heard that BMW measures torque and horsepower where the rubber meets the road. Other manufacturers measure it at the flywheel. If true, thats a good 10-20hp difference that the drive train would take.

Is this true? Beewang?

Thinking about switching from the 2005 545 to the new Acura RL. $16,000 less and quite a car. My wife is stuck on the BMW badge.? I drive about 20,000 miles a year.? Can anyone talk me out of it?

If you are not a driver, go for it.
