Tata have *nothing* at all to do with Volvo. Volvo and Lincoln are the only remaining members of PAG, and Volvo is still entirely Ford owned. There were, in fact, strong rumors that BMW tried to buy Volvo earlier this year.

Again, Tata has nothing at all to do with Volvo.

We had an 850 turbo wagon, and it was a good car, but as soon as Ford owned Volvo.... Never again! BTW Frank, I just heard Tata has NOTHING to do with Volvo!!

Hey guys,

My friend and I just went to Volvo showroom yesterday.
It seems that he is interested in buying the new S80 V8.
The engine is actually pretty good. The sales said that it goes 0-60mph in 6 seconds flat.
This timing is close with 545i and 550i.
What do you think guys?

Yoko
Actually, the 545i/550i are in the low 5s to 60 and high 4s are even possible. 0-60 in 6 would get beaten by a 535i.

For a Volvo it looks good. But yes, that's probably an after market rear bumper.

I like the exhaust treatment--very slick.

No no no ... exhaust pipes and tips should be round. IMHO

Ummm what? Do you know the stated 0-60 times for the 550 and the 535?
550 is clocked at 0.1 seconds faster to 60 than the 535.

The V8 is constructed by Yamaha and it's not an original Volvo engine. Then again, neither are the rest of the engine's..... all are Ford (Euro) engine's. The V50 has the same base as a Ford Focus (only the Euro Focus steers sportier)!

Just look at the car from the side, open the hood, and notice that almost the full engine is placed IN FRONT of the front axle. What will that do for the car's weight distribution?
Now do the same with your (or ANY) BMW and you will see that the engine is placed BEHIND the front axle. That's why all BMW's have (near) 50/50 weight balance!

Life's not all about 0-60, but about the overall 'feel' of the car and nothing can beat a BMW!
