When I read the M45 write up, I don't understand why they like it better than the BMW-- it doesn't perform as well, excpept on the skid pad, as the 545i.?? I've seen the car and its not attractive-- I don't know what they are thinking wrt giving it higher marks on style-- I mean, come on, the car is at least bland if not ugly.?? The write up doesn't really justify the top ranking they gave it.?? Also, if you look at the scores, they gave a 10pt advantage to the M45 due to price- but they admit in the review that the price advantage was arbitrary because the M45 came with few options and that if you equipped it comparably, it would fall in between the Lexus and the BMW.?? Another BS article.?? The M45 is ugly.

I don't think the M45 is ugly on the exterior, but it certainly doesn't have the aggressive/menacing look of the E60. Because of that, I like the E60 better.

On the interior, I'll take the E60 any day of the week over the M45. For anyone that has test driven the M, it has the cheapest, ugliest wood trim I've ever seen (no finish whatsoever, will look like crap in two years), and their IDrive ripoff thing is huge -- it looks like an abortion in the middle dash. In addition, if you want to use it, you have to reach for the knob and then punch buttons all around the knob.

I'll take a BMW, MB or Lexus interior over the M45 any day of the week.

I am not biased, but IMHO, M45 looks too mature.

I agree. I think the M45 looks like a nice car, but nothing I would currently consider. Maybe if I was 10 years older?

I have driven the M45 and yes, the wood trim is ugly as a troll's butt. Everything else is very nice. The best Japanese performance car on the market today. It's not a BMW though - still a ways to go.

I've used the Infiniti's system, it's really nothing like iDrive.....

you don't have to use the dial and buttons in the middle, I think that is more for passenger use, you can control the system from the steering wheel..... you can enter in navigation addresses completely using voice commands, tune satellite radio by voice command, play MP3's and WMA's in the 6 disc changer, play dvd audio in the dvd player (there is a 2nd dvd drive for NAV), play dvd movies on the front and rear screens, it also has a backup rear camera, built-in audio/video RCA based aux inputs, keyless push button starting, and some other very cool tech features...

I like iDrive in my 545i, but really, Infiniti and Lexus are ahead with regards to user interface and overall ease of use....

Unhappy

I hate to say this, but some of you are level headed and some of you sound like cry babies. Some of you guys are trying to make up every excuse you can to justify why the 545i should have beaten the M45. Why can't you just enjoy your cars without degrading others?

The Infiniti-M is the best challenge the 5-Series has ever seen and some of you refuse to give it any props. The Infiniti has won almost every comparison test it has been in. Any car enthusiast should be able appreciate how far Infiniti has come in 3 years.

Do you think BMW is going to rule the world for the rest of eternity? Do you think that the 5-Series is going to be the best sports sedan for the next 1,000 years? Do you all really think that no car will ever surpass the 5'er? It might be time for a little reality check.

I thought BMW owners were car enthusiasts in general, not people who were worried about their badge or manhood being threatened. o:)

The two cars cater to very different interests so I think M45 owners should be happy they have their cars and E60 owners have good reason to like theirs. Let's face it, the scoring is very close and it comes down to subjective areas which give us all something to like / dislike about each car.

For instance, I think the M45 is distgustingly ugly and wouldn't buy one. No really, I think its ridculous to buy something that ugly for over $50K. You probably like it. Its all just a matter of opinion, see. So Great. Have a nice day.

Having driven the M45, I'm sure not going to visit the Infiniti board and bash the vehicle to its aficionados. But I bought the e60. What do you suppose that means?

ZinMe, I'm with you. The M is to me disgustingly ugly - especially the interior, which has all the elegance of a pimped out MTV "crib". But if you like wretched excess, the M might just be your ride.

Agree Maxbuck- let's not go to that board and bash the M45. But wait a minute, that is in interesting thought Maxbuck-- do you think there really is an M45.net? Probably not. I mean, who would use it? I can't imagine that M45 owners would be nearly as enthusiastic.

I owned a Lexus before test driving the 545i and then the M45. If the M45 was better, I would have bought that. The M45 sucked ass in all aspects of performance and handling compared to the 545i. All those magazines and their point-by-point comparos can go pound the freaking Sahara desert for all I care. I will continue to claim that the M45 sucks ass from now until the end of time because of MY personal experience.
