Definitely the X5, very good looking and a lot of new technical innovations / options

Q7 looks and drives like a whale...............

Last week I drove my friends Q7 3.0TDI. It is excellent on the inside, but looks terrible on the outside.
And the weight........

I also got a ride in a Q7 3.0 TDI and i was surprised by how uncomfortable it felt. It felt as hars as my 535d and that's in an SUV. I wonder why...

Wow thanks guys, did not mean to offend anyone my choice of course for me would be the x5 in any form factor. Now my wife is not a real bmw fan, she is more of a mercedes person (now i would not have that hurst in the drive way). And at this point she loves mini vans she has a 96 Dodge Caravan, and a 05 Nissan Quest. Just happened to take a friend in to pick up his car from Service and the Q7 caught my eye. It is large and kinda bulbous but that seems to be what she likes by the way the 3rd row is good once you get in and at 58000 bmw seems to be a better deal thanks again for the help

Q7 hands down.

I've sat in the new X5 and driven the older one for over 6 years now (my wife has owned 2 of them - a 2001 and a 2005).

The Q7 is (for the most part) well thought out. The new X5 is the biggest disappointment from BMW since the 7 series Bangle Butt debut. IMHO, the new X5 is less attractive (in terms of the interior) than the old one it replaced. I'm also not a fan of the LED rear lights. They are as some would say "evil" looking.

Also, the 3rd row seat is hardly functional. Have you ever driven / sat in an LR3 (Land Rover)? Now, those are real 3rd row seats. OK, so the box look is not everyone's cup of tea, but that isn't my point.

The new X5 is about 5 years late to the party. It was old news before it debuted. It is not with the times. The only thing I don't like about the Q7 is that ridiculously FUGLY front grille. It looks like someone tried to marry a Bentley with an A6 and the Q7's grille is the abortion they came up with. It's hideous (not to mention a nice big reflective target for police LIDAR guns).

I once had a VW Touareg with Air Suspension and even in 'comfort'-mode the ride is pretty rough, not comfy at all. I suspect the Q7 won't be any more fun to drive than the t-reg, the I would buy the X5!

Why would you want either of them  They are both silly dinosaurs. if you want a 4WD, get a Land Rover. If you want a sports car, there are plenty to choose from.

IMHO the Q7 is one of the world's ugliest cars / suvs, whatevers.
Technically it may be great but it's just so ugly it's embarrasing.
Nothing against the fairer sex but the the majority of Q7's seem to be driven by women. Why is that ?
