I am mixed about it. I'd say no to the exterior styling and OK to interior. I too don't like all the buttons on the console. A good many are climate control which is because they ran out of room for that under the nav.

I liked the styling of most cars in the 90's being more conservative, whether refering to BMW, Caddy, Acura, Lexus, or whatever. The down side was many cars looked just like each other. Today manufacturers are willing to bring out something unique. They provide a stronger brand identity and seem to sell so why not. You can say that BMW led that charge.

BTW, re the Cayenne, just go to a PCA track event. You wouldn't believe the number of Cayennes used to tow those old 911 track cars. I would bet a significant number of Cayenne owners have a 911 but bought the SUV to have a practical car as well.

A Cayenne is a practical car? I mean come on man! What's a civic hybrid then? I mean it gets the same number o people on board, it gets way better fuel economy, it's easy to park in town, it's small enough to cut through heavy city traffic....

There are lots of better "practical" cars than a Cayenne. A Cayenne is just "a practical Porsche badge". Touareg is just as practical.

Point taken BetterMW, but try to tow a track car with a Civic.

True, let alone a hybrid! But i just realized that a Hummer H2 is also a very practical car

I agree with the rear-end styling comments, but I've got to tell you, this is the first car that could break decades of 5er ownership by me. If the 4S or Turbo comes with a true stick, it could be all over for BMW and me . . .

I think PDK is standard on these, it's probably the primary reason for the 4.0 0-60 time on the Turbo which is just incredible for a car of its size and class. Pretty likely there is or will be a stick option as every other Porsche (even the Cayenne!) is available with a manual.

What do you have on the Targa by the way? 6-speed or PDK?
