I think the car is great and Audi is quite capable of building a car to challenge a BMW.
Speaking strictly about the sound from the engine...I don't like it. That whining noise from the S/C makes it sound like a toy.

My buddy has 2000 996 non-turbo even it has a whine. When I hear any turbo porsche on the road I here the turbos wind-up. It may not be an exact match to that audis whine, but you can hear it. I guess its just me. Sorry if I am hearing things.

Yep turbo "whine" not supercharger whine. That's a different whine. The turbos make a sound just like a jumbo jet only in miniature. Form the outside one can hear the PSsssssssshh sound.
The supercharger makes a different sound. Unmistakeable.

Never said it was identical or exactly the same. If you look at my original post, I was simply was stating the whine tells people you got something special under the hood. Like the Porsche 911 turbo whine. Thats all. Didn't mean to get your panties all in a bunch.
