The OM 629 was introduced in Geneva in a Vision SL 400 with 315 hp and 730 Nm and will enter production for the ML 400 CDI, R 400 CDI, S 400 CDI and E 400 CDI. Seperately a triturbo SLK 320 CDI concept with 286 hp and 630 Nm based on the OM 642 was exhibited. Also, MB takes the lead by offering particle filters standard on all diesel models starting mid 2005.

SLK 320cdi: 286hp 680Nm 0-100kmh: 5.3sec
SL 400cdi: 315hp 730Nm 0-100kmh: 5.8sec

Apparently the 320cdi is a tri-turbo. Look at the torque, this is amazing!!!All this for a consumption of 7.5l/100km !!!!!

What will Bmw respond??? A definite boost for the 535d!!

I am more referring to the engine then to the brand! Specially this triturbo thing and the 680Nm of torque out of a light V6 engine!!
Can you imagine that!!

We'll be gone for a lot of wheel spin with this car before departure!

But still... They are concept engines! And I don't think that BMW doesn't have any answers to those engines..

Coming across this forum I think it was a good place to place a picture of a powerful Mercedes diesel which literally brings driving pleasure.
