Sure, the IFS is a beast. But Lexus cannot compete with BMW in steering or suspension.
Or class

Sorry to ruin the fun here but personally Lexus is more than what people think. I admit, a lot say it's a dressed up Toyota, badged differently, and marked up $10k. They do share same underpinnings and whatever but they are still different. I know the IS-F still does not compare to the M3 nor the C63 AMG but Lexus is more of luxury, comfort, and quality. I've talked to a body shop guy before and he says there's a significant difference between a Land Cruiser and an LX470 when he opened up each of those to fix from an accident. The insulation and quality between Toyota and Lexus are far different from each other (which means he thinks that it's worth the extra $$). Also remember, Lexus debuted in 1989 and they've gone up the ranks within 20 years compared to BMW and MB who have been on the market for many years.

I know the 4Runner and the GX470 are cousins (not "brothers") and I can tell the major quality and comfort difference between the two after owning the 4Runner for 3 years. The GX, even though it's more rugged and more off-road capable than the 4Runner, is still smoother and more comfortable for those long drives out of town with the whole family and gear packed up. The 4Runner has been known to be an off-road machine, but the GX, IMO, is more off-road capable than the 4Runner.

As far as MB is concerned, they are not owned by Chrysler anymore and they really didn't share much in common (according to my MB enthusiast friend). The MBs are pretty sporty in terms of driving but I do admit BMW is hands down more sportier and grips the road better than MB.

That's very true. Aside from BMW and MB, most other brands are playing dress up.
For MB, AMG are dressed up MB's and ///Ms are dressed up BMWs. Think about it. How many BMWs have round mirrors, large lower intakes, and quad exhausts? Only ///Ms, at least not until LCI models and the last year of production.
Even with interiors, the ///Ms get the full leather options, etc.

Does the v10 count as dress-up too.

They don't call it IS-Fail for nothing..
I'd rather get a GT-R for the money

I love how quiet lexus vehicles are. That's one thing I would love to have in my 545.

Lexus vehicles are nice, well-made and well-appointed cars. They generally lack the handling, steering feel or suspension sportiness of BMW and instrad focus on isolation, luxury appointments and awesome sound systems. Perhaps the IF-S, which everyone knows is super-fast, is an exception.

Bottom line -
The ISF is slower, doesn't handle as well, and is much uglier than the M3, there just is no substitute.
Has anyone seen the pics of the Audi and BMW dealers warring bilboards in Santa Monica?

Audi put up a bilboard that has a pic of the S4 and the quote "Your move BMW"

BMW of Santa Monica put up a bilboard nearby with a pic of the new M3 that just says "Checkmate"

Perfect
